Steam will say it's starting, the screen will go black like it's about to start but then it goes right back to Steam.

metro 2033 redux works fine, metro LL redux crash every 5 mins to desktop. The "workaround" to this is, yes, you might have guessed it - replay the entire level by going through the "chapter select" instead of the "continue". Hello everyone, sorry fot the up, but I've just experienced the first crash in my game : during the loading screen when moving from the swamp to next level. Metro2033 Redux is fine for me but Metro Last Light Redux crashed all the time 4seconds frezze and then im on the desktop. Everything else seems to be in perfectly working order. It only seems to affect the saving process at the very end of the level. The corruption might happen at any point throughout the level, and you'll never notice until you attempt to complete the level at which point it'll crash to desktop. There is no way to recover from this that I know of, and you're still perfectly able to play the save so you don't even know it happened, until the level ends.
*This is probably a different issue from the crash mid-levelĪs it turns out, there's a bug that causes, let's call it, "autosave corruption" to occur, in some levels more than in others. I'm here to report I found a workaround for my particular crash at level transition to loading screen. In both Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux versions there were tenths of times when my Artyom suddenly stopped reacting to any button presses (both keyboard as well as gamepad) and you could only move the camera until you restarted to the last checkpoint, sometimes even when it was before quite a hard fight sequence.
